Michellie Jones Dominates the 2008 Persona Oliver Half Iron
Over the weekend Michellie Jones competed against 1200 fellow
triathletes at the 2008 5th Annual Persona Oliver Half Iron the event
totaled 70.3miles.
Michellie exit the 1.2mile swim the leading female competitor and in doing so set a new swim course record.
In wet cold and windy conditions Michellie gained momentum on the rest
of the women’s field on the challenging 56 mile cycle leg which
showcased the very scenic Canadian Wine country. As Michellie exited
the transition for the 13.1 mile run the sky’s finally became more
co-operative as the rained finally subsided. Michellie was able to
maintain her lead from the cycle leg to cross the finish line in 1st
place.
Michellie Jones’s finish time of 4hrs 33mins earned her the 2008
Persona Half Iron Women’s Champion. The womens field also included Sara
Gross runnner up at the 2007 Ironman Canada who eventually finished 4th.
